As of May 26, 2025, India has recorded a total of 1,009 active COVID-19 cases, marking a significant increase from 257 cases reported a week earlier. This surge includes 752 new infections reported between May 19 and May 26.

Kerala leads the count with 430 active cases, followed by Maharashtra with 209 cases. Delhi has reported 104 active cases, with 99 of these cases identified in the past week.

In response to the rising numbers, the Delhi government issued an advisory on May 23, 2025, directing hospitals to ensure preparedness by maintaining adequate supplies of beds, oxygen, essential medicines, and vaccines. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has urged the public not to panic, stating that hospitals are fully equipped to handle any further increase in cases.

Health experts have noted that the majority of new cases are mild and manageable at home. Nevertheless, authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have emphasized the importance of adhering to safety protocols to prevent further spread.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has also advised states to enhance surveillance and testing, especially in areas reporting higher case numbers. Public health campaigns are being intensified to promote vaccination and adherence to COVID-19 appropriate behavior.

While the current situation does not warrant alarm, continued vigilance and adherence to health guidelines remain crucial in managing the spread of COVID-19.
